Online Shopping - The way of the Future.

A survey has revealed that the internet has brought a dramatic change in in the way people shopped. More and more people are using the internet to do their shopping online and this is because of the convenience of doing the online shopping. While five years ago, people are rather sceptics and felt insecure of using their credit cards to do online shopping, nowadays their perceptions are different. With the security of doing online shopping is getting better and the technology is advancing, people are feeling that online shopping today is much secure than say, five or six years ago. The survey also agree that consumer confidence in online shopping has greatly improved.

Broadband will also be an important factor in this. With more people subscribing to broadband and availability is much easier, more people are expecting to use the internet to shop online.

However, with regards to security of online shopping we cannot be complacent. Whilst the security of online shopping may be better, the unscrupulous people will always find some loopholes to penetrate the security and putting people's information such as credit cards, addresses and other private information at risk. Therefore those companies that provide websites certifications really must keep updating their technology for at least one step ahead.

Popular Products

The survey also indicated that there are seven products that are going to record phenomenal growth sales. The products include flowers, jewelry, luxury goods, sporting goods, food and beverage, home goods, health and beauty products and apparels. The sales of the last three are mainly driven by women who now doing more online shopping than men.

Apart from that, other products that registered double digit growth including computer hardwares and softwares, ticket sales and books. The entry of large grocers into home delivery of online shopping has also driven food and beverage sales.

Advantages of Online Shopping

Whilst online shopping gives us convenience of shopping at home, the advantages to retailers may not be so obvious. Marketing costs for online sales are generally higher than for store or catalog sales. This is because the retailers need to spend higher on promoting their products to attract more customers to do online shopping. There will be a lot of discounts and bargain prices to be offered to customers so that they are willing to shop online.

Nevertheless, with the rapid development of technology and much easier availability of broadbands throughout the world, online shopping will be the way of the future.

SURVEY FINDINGS

" 94% have bought online compared to 37% five years ago

67% surprised by how much they use the internet now

Nearly half think that 40% of purchases will be online in five years time

74% say internet usage has soared

85% buy more often now than five years ago

96% believe the internet has made it easier to buy goods and services "

Save Money While Shopping

Part 3

1. Shop Online

Many online businesses offer great bargains and in some cases, free shipping. Since the Internet is such a competitive market, you can usually find fantastic deals. In addition, many of your favourite businesses where you shop in person have websites that offer even greater savings. Bookstores such as Amazon.com will sell books up to 70% off the original price. Overstock.com is another online business that sells closeout items for fantastic bargains.

2. Consignment Shops

Rather than throw out or sell slightly worn clothing or other household items in a garage sale, consider selling them through a consignment shop. You will get a better price for your items and consignment shops are always looking for quality merchandise. Check out Half.com, which is an online consignment shop offering books, movies, computer software, and much more in either new or used condition.

3. Take a close look at the clearance racks!

Always head straight for the clearance rack where you can find amazing bargains. Sometimes you may have to dig a little to find the right item but the savings will be well-worth your time. Most clearance racks offer variety, current trends, and great value. For example, Bed, Bath & Beyond has a clearance section where you can find all kinds of wonderful household items for a fraction of the original cost. I have teenage daughters so buying name brand clothing is very important to them. When we shop at the big department stores, we always find great deals on the clearance rack.

4. Reuse

When you shop, look for items that can be reused. Rechargeable batteries are a perfect example. Even though the initial purchase may be more than non-rechargeable batteries, there is a definite savings over a long period. Stop buying paper plates, paper cups, and plastic eating utensils. I know a lot of people who wash them and reuse them, but I don't like that idea. I only buy these items if we are going to a cookout or a picnic. There is no reason to buy them for birthday parties or family get together. Just use the plates, glasses, and utensils in your cabinets. You may have to wash a few more dishes, but it is well worth the effort.

5. Buy in Bulk

It is true that warehouse shopping can save a lot of money. Even if you have a small family, you can always split large quantities. The price of items in bulk is generally a great bargain. If you are single, you might go in with friends or family on bulk items. Be sure to watch the prices though. Warehouses and shopping clubs are sometimes more expensive.

6. Coupons

Okay, maybe you used to laugh as you watched people pull out their coupons at stores but the truth is that using coupons can save you hundreds of dollars every year. Coupons can be used at grocery stores, retail chains, and any store where the item is sold. Some stores offer double coupon days, which is an extra bonus. On average, you could easily save from 5% to 15% on a bill for $100 simply by presenting a coupon. Coupons are not just for food items and by scouring your local newspaper you can find coupons for all sorts of merchandise. You can even buy coupons on EBay! You can get 100's of dollars worth of coupons for just a few dollars on EBay. Even if you can't use them all, you will save HUGE on your grocery bill! I have saved up to $75 on a $225 grocery bill. I paid $150 for $225 worth of groceries. If I did that twice a month, I would save $1800 a YEAR!

7. The Right Time to Shop

Studies have proven that when shopping while hungry, depressed, tired, and stressed, you buy more. Before you head to the grocery store, eat something. If you are upset or feeling a little blue, calm yourself down or wait until you feel better before you head out to shop. As funny as it may sound, having a clear mind is important when it comes to shopping and spending money efficiently.

8. Comparison Shop

Comparison-shopping can make a big difference in the price you pay. You might be looking at a barbecue grill at one place for $350.00 and by making two more stops, find the exact grill or one comparable for $300. In addition, consider the price of items assembled versus unassembled. For example, you might find the barbecue grill un-assembled for $250. A couple of hours of "fun" assembling the grill is certainly worth a $100 saving.

9. Dollar Stores

Many years ago, dollar stores offered only off brand products or poorly made merchandise. However, that has completely changed. Now you can walk into a dollar store and find the same name brand laundry soap, cleaning supplies, clothing, school supplies, everything for a fraction of the cost. Where a store name brand bottle of laundry detergent might cost $6.50 at a grocery store, you can find the identical product and size at the dollar store for $2.50. Check out your local dollar store and enjoy the mountains of savings.

10. Go Generic

When buying food, try some of the generic items. Unless you or your guests are connoisseurs of fine dining, they will not know if the green beans were generic or a top name brand. Once you add some butter, salt, and pepper, no one will know the difference except you - $.79 per can versus $.33 per can! People do not realize that many generic brands are actually manufactured by name brand companies, just branded with a different name. In fact, companies such as those that make snack foods will have conveyor belts that run side-by-side - one for the name brand and one for the generic brand. This is quite common and the only difference is the label and price.

11. Stock Up

As you shop, if you notice that a brand you and your family use on a consistent basis is on sale for a great bargain, stock up. As an example, if you use a particular type of shampoo costing $4.50 per bottle and you find it on sale for $2.50, go ahead and buy two bottles. You should only do this on items you know will be used. If you just purchase an item because it's on sale, you are not saving money if you don't use it.

12. Shopping for Clothes

There are many secrets relating to saving money on clothing. As a perfect example, rather than buy a matched suit for $450, buy the pieces separate. This will save you about $100 to $150. Additionally, buy several pieces that can be mixed and matched, giving you six outfits out of four pieces.

13. Trendy Fashion

Most people love to dress in the most up-to-date fashion but for those fashions, you pay big bucks. Consider dressing with basics and then emphasis them with trendy accessories. This will save you money on the clothing that is less expensive while allowing you to dress it up.

14. Stay out of the Malls

If possible, stay away from shopping malls. High-dollar shopping malls have expensive overhead and are designed to sell, sell, and sell. Prices are generally higher and in most cases, people walk out with more than they anticipated buying. It is better to shop at stand-alone shops or on the Internet.

15. Car Shopping

Shop around for the best price. While you may have your eye on that "perfect" car and want it now, by waiting and looking around, you could be saving yourself a lot of money. In addition, check out other states. If you live within a few hours' drive from other cities, check out the price difference. The five hours it takes to drive may be worth the money saved.

16. Plan Menus

Although it will take some time initially, after you have planned a week's menu once, it will become much easier and best of all, it will save you money. Knowing exactly what you will be making helps you to shop for foods that can be used more than once. As an example, if you are going to have spaghetti on Tuesday, you could buy bulk ground beef at a better price and then use the other half for tacos on Saturday. Another option would be buying round steak where one night you fix Salisbury steak and then a few days later, you use the leftovers for breakfast hash. This will help you stretch meals and avoid last minute or impulse buying.

17. Dining Out

Eating out can be expensive. Rather than stop eating out, simply cut back and look for options of two-for-one. Restaurants of all calibres offer weekly specials and if you check in your Sunday paper, you can often find special bargains. You might even think about signing up as a Mystery Shopper on the Internet where you can eat at fine restaurants free or at a huge discount just for writing a report on the food, service, and cleanliness.

18. Freeze Foods

When you grocery shop, look for bargains on items that can be frozen. Most people do not even think about shredding block cheese and freezing it. Did you know that you could even freeze eggs? You can as long as you give them a little room to expand. When ready to use, simply set them out at room temperature. If you find apples on sale, make your own apple pies and freeze them or make applesauce. Many food items can be frozen with no problem. Therefore, the next time you see a great bargain think about freezing. (Dairy products other than cheese do not generally freeze well).

19. Baby Food

Instead of buying expensive baby food, make your own. You can use fresh vegetables such as peas, green beans, or corn, run it through the blender, and then freeze individual servings in ice cube trays. When it comes time to feed the baby, simply pop out a cube of food, defrost, and you have instant food. This is a real time and money saver. Most foods can be frozen. In fact, if you... make family foods like spaghetti or soups simply make a smaller portion with less salt and spice, puree, freeze just like the vegetables.

20. Squelch the Smoking

This is probably the hardest habit to break but in addition to saving your health, you will also save money. Cigarettes have become quite expensive and if you can quit smoking, you will enjoy breathing easier and having more to put away for a rainy day.

21. Seasonal Buys

One to three days after a holiday, stores mark their holiday items from 50% to 75% off. This is an ideal way to stock up on next year's Christmas or Halloween decorations. This is true for stores that sell seasonal clothing as well. Shopping for jackets or sweaters in the summer will provide you with great deals.

Considering the economic recession waiting at our door steps and the banks are becoming unstable with price inflation and employment is now short cutting staff to keep the business afloat, what else can you do to build your own financial security? The Fun and Ease of Online Shopping vs. The Brick and Mortar Option

Author: Tom Coleman

Source: download

When my sister and discussed our shopping plans this year we found to our surprise that our attitudes were much different. She was the hip New Yorker, living in a trendy section of Brooklyn and commuting in to her publishing job in Manhattan. I'm a down home Midwestern type of girl who prefers to drive everywhere and I love my suburb. We were chatting together on my mother's couch after we had stuffed ourselves with cake from our parent's anniversary party, and when we got onto the topic of shopping (my favorite pastime), my sister gave me quite a shock. While I was dreading the upcoming birthdays and Christmas, but my sister had a very positive outlook. She was looking forward to the experience, and I was flabbergasted.

As it turned out, she was a devote of shopping online, and so she was looking forward to surfing around, researching options and deals, and getting all her shopping done early. I argued with her, saying that the personalization of actually finding a gift by oneself in person was something that couldn't be duplicated by a machine. Also, many of the really great items I would like to get were not the kind of items that were technologically oriented, and what little vendors would have their stores online?

The debate got pretty heated, and soon we decided to bet on it. We bet each other a new iPod player (pretty technologically oriented there, but I figured that I could sort it out once I won) that the other person would have much better shopping runs if each of us used the other's techniques. I was positive that if she could discover how nice it was to go into the brick and mortar shops, she'd forget all about online shopping - and I definitely knew that I would like shopping online. Since we were basically buying gifts for the same people, we'd have a fair contest. We'd be fair in our evaluations, as well, and insist on telling each other how we'd done. Each of us would rate the shopping system on ease, quality, price, and getting gifts that was appropriate and appreciated by the recipients. Here's our results:

For our brother's present, I hopped onto the internet and typed in bird watching into the search engine. After searching through a couple options, to my surprise I quickly found a birding book that was specific to our state, plus a CD of bird calls. The site not only offered free shipping, but would wrap the package and mail it to the my brother. "Well", I thought. "That was easy - but I knew books and CDs were easy to get via the internet. How about something tough?"

I thought I'd cheat a little bit by trying to find something that could only be bought locally. That failure would take my sister's idea out the utility of online shopping and blow it completely out of the water. For this specialized task I picked one of my favorite foods - the organic, wild blueberry pancake syrup sold in our local farmer's market. While it's always a pain to wake up early on Saturday mornings to drive all the way down to the market, it's worth it to get this locally-made, yet exotic product. Unfortunately for me, it was easy to find. I entered the phrase Blueberry Syrup into Froogle and it was the first product sold there. I had no idea they sold this stuff on the internet! The new franchising and marketing opportunities have enabled the local growers to market and ship their product all over the states.

One last shot - I'd look for something for my sister, to get something so personal and unique that you'd definitely have to go there to get it. It was an item that we had seen on a friend's wall, and for years now my sister had wanted one of her own. As it turns out, Thai elephant painting (the elephants grab paintbrushes with their trunks and then paint a canvas) is now online, and yes, they will take custom orders. I hadn't really been willing to fly to Thailand to get a painting, anyway, but I certainly hadn't thought that would have been online.

I called up my sister in defeat. After two hours online, I had bought all my major presents. Sis answered her cell phone and said that she was still stuck in rush-hour traffic on the way to the store.

Online Price Shopping Tips

Author: James Snafferty

Source: isnare.com

With the current generation growing up and becoming more technologically advance, online shopping is immensely growing. One aspect that you need to keep in mind when shopping online verses shopping in stores is that if the product is the same, and shipping is the same, you can shop by price more-so than going to any store. You don’t have to deal with any staff or rude cashiers, nor will you have to put up with refund policies or bait and switch. The price you see is the price you get. This aspect is often forgotten by people on a day to day basis, and end up buying products for almost 20% more in a store when they could have just waited an additional week and gotten it for significantly less.

The bottom line in the shopping online verses shopping in store is that if the product is needed immediately then you should buy it in a store. If it’s not, then shop online for it and save yourself some money. One of the biggest arguments about not buying online is the shipping fee. What you need to realize is that almost all online retailers have a policy where if you order over, say, $50 you get free shipping on all items or at least a flat rate. Walmart.com also has a great alternative called their Site To Store option. They will ship the items you want to your current store, so that you get the online price and then pick them up in person. I know some people like to inspect the items before taking it home, so this option would especially be for you.

There are two main reasons that many people shop online. The first is so that they will be able to get items that they couldn’t previously get in their location. Shopping on the Internet is especially great for this one. The second is that it is much easier to get items online and cheaper and wait a week than to drive to a store, pay 10-20% more and then have them the same day. If having an item the same day isn’t an issue, and the item itself isn’t food, then shopping online is a perfect solution to saving some money in the long run.

When shopping online one of the main things you should do is definitely bargain shop. Make sure that the items that you’re looking at are the same item, though. Often retailers may try to push older and/or outdated products online under various names in an effort to efficiently sell them so they don’t take a loss on it. As long as the item itself is exactly what you’re looking at, bargain shop a lot. Find the best price and don’t forget to add in the companies that waive the shipping fee, and how many of them end up trying to charge you $10 for standard shipping. Remember since it’s all the same, to go with the price. Just make sure they look legitimate enough to actually send you the product. Household names are not always a must, but certainly do help.

James Snafferty writes on behalf of JoyDeals.com, which is a website for Online Shopping and to be more specific, cell phone accessories.

The eVolution Of The iNternet Family Online Shopping Mall

Author: Mikey Miller

Source: download

Do you remember how great great grandfather did the family shopping? He would hook up his team of horses to the big wagon put in the family and trudge off across the prairie for a day or so to get to the nearest 'general store'. Once there it was a great outing for the family. The store had everything needed from children's store bought candy to mother's ready made dress. If the store did not have that certain special item there was always the option of the catalog.

After the turn of the century (1900 not 2000) a couple of remarkable changes occurred that begin to alter family shopping. America began to grow up and out - at least to the oceans. And the automobile made its auspicious entrance. Now the family could get to the general store much faster. Mother loved that, she could make more trips is a shorter time.

There was, however, an embryo of change being observed in the stores themselves. The increase in populations made for more stores and a wider variety of markets. The general store began to break up. 'Specialty' stores began to emerge. Dress shops, drug stores, movie theaters etc. A whole group of cottage industries began to make an entrance. It is true the big boys were still ever present and getting bigger. Sears Roebuck and Co, J. C. Penny, and others were still on top, still selling through the ever present catalogs.

As our country grew through World War II it became more sophisticated. The little village grew into a city. This resulted in the concept of a 'town square'. The big stores were usually on opposite sides of the square with the little specialty shops filling in the gaps. Usually these types of cities were the county seat so you would have a court house and a government office building. There was something else of importance that came into prominence through this period. Access to information began to grow with the appearance of the County Library.

As we moved into the 1960s the automobile presented a nightmare problem to family shopping that was totally unexpected. Traffic and Parking began to choke the city square concept. It is certain everyone still wanted to shop, but usually at the same time. It was near impossible to find a parking meter on the down town streets in the town square.

American ingenuity, as usual, prevailed. We made parking the priority item and called it all a 'suburban shopping mall'. Now there were acres of free parking with the shops in the middle. The next major evolution was to air condition the whole shopping mall. What's not to like? The big guys where still at opposite ends of the shopping mall. Now there was unlimited space for expansion of the specialty shops. Even better, it was all accessible on foot. Only thing left was the food court. Now family shopping had moved to heaven.

We refined and sharpen this concept to an art form over the next few decades. Some where during that period of time the government slipped in a not understood or utilized system which took the handle of the 'internet'. So what? Nothing happened for a long time. Then the next stunning invention occurred. The mouse (computer) began to wiggle around. Do you not understand that without the mouse the computer is a black box? Put them together and we have the Personal Computer.

Somewhere in the eternal scheme of things the infinite minds of the computer geeks and nerds began to squeak and rumble. A marriage of the internet and personal computer took place. While that is a worthwhile discourse in its own right far too large for our purposes we would be remiss to pass it by without comment. It was only a few years back, in the mid 1990s that this even occurred. This is important to understand to be able to focus of the rapidity of current events, speaking of the internet online shopping. It was about 1994/95 time period that a company called Netscape came along with their commercial internet browser. It started an absolute revolution. It is not until about 1996 that Microsoft finally figured it out and came roaring down the road with their internet explorer. The race was on.

The other side of the story was the functional software development on the internet. In the beginning the only thing we could figure out for the internet was file transfer (FTP). Then it dawned on someone that if we could read from the internet why not write to the internet. Incredible concept! Websites began popping up all over the place.

We began to see a true information highway. Any company could advertise it presence throughout the world with minimal effort. The internet browser now could interact with a company's data base. Of course, it was just a heart beat away until the website could actually sell products. The impact of this was absolutely profound. Shopping was changing course. It was now being called internet online shopping. Family online shopping was born.

Internet online shopping is now moving so fast it is near impossible to keep up from day to day. However, what goes around comes around; we are right back to the 1950s, electronically speaking. The big boys still have their big websites. But now the little specialty ishops are filling in the blanks. They can compete directly with the big companies-almost. There are online shopping malls all over the internet. Home shopping online, even discount shopping online is growing non-linearly everyday

There are now, as there always are, another set of complications that have risen with need to be addressed. There are literally millions of websites on the internet to be found or in most cases NOT to be found. This has caused the mushrooming of another incredibly fast most moving cottage industry in the form of Internet Marketing. Search engines, Pay Per Click (PPC), Website Content etc. are all now very critical to a website.

When you search during an online shopping spree, for our purposes a shopping search, it is not uncommon to get back several thousand websites. In order to truly shop you must go through one website at a time until you can find that for which you are looking. This gives rise to the word surfing.

The solutions for these problems are emerging in the form of holistic online shopping mall websites that provide categories from discount shopping online to online clothes shopping to surf through. The website bears the burden and responsibility of filtering and selecting appropriate merchants based on the subject of the website.

The next cutting edge development emerging is the 'internet online shopping specialty ishops'. That is where a very narrow subject is the focus of a 'mini website'. For example, a 'Women's Plus Size Clothing Specialty iShop' or a 'Family Scrapbooking Specialty iShop'. The list for online shopping specialty ishops will soon be endless. The important factor here is this type of website contains only merchants for that very specific specialty. That places all the major merchants plus many of the competitive smaller online shopping website within one click of the customer. It greatly curtails the endless surfing through each merchant website.

One last point, much like the shopping mall of old the specialty online shopping website will have the library, i.e., information highway, news links, ebooks, fresh content articles and what ever else is required to maintain a holistic family shopping environment at you finger tips.

Then the next step in family online shopping will be …

Holiday Shopping the Easy Way

Author: Sylvia Calhoun

Source: articleage.com

This article has been written to save you gas, money, and time with your holiday shopping.

I have been shopping for years. (Clothes being my specialty) I have been to many a mall at 8:30pm during the holiday season, waiting in line while my feet ache and sweat ran down my brow. The thought of carrying bags, and boxes from one store to another in search of the right gift, for the right person, at the right price, is nothing short of terrifying.

Think about it for a second. How does the average person shop? There are two main ways. By impulse buying, or by making a list and following it. When you do the impulse buying thing, you put your god given memory skills to the true test. You're out driving back home from work or it's the weekend and your running around for one reason or another. You see a store, you say, "I have enough money to get some of these gifts out of the way. You pull in the parking lot and from that moment on your time is gone, your body is about to be worked out and you don't even know if your going to find the gift your looking for. You walk around hoping you'll see a gift for the right person, at the right price. Good luck! You might have some time left in your day to catch a movie later if it works out. There is no guarantee of success.

Let's look at the other way. You plan your list and your time. First of all it has to be a day off, and I do mean a whole day off. After you have planed to shop on a certain day you have to go down your list and think about who gets what and how much you plan to spend. You're ready. It's off to the mall or to one of the all in one superstores. You have a good plan but who knows how much your going to spend on each gift, an how long it's going to take. Best case scenario you get all your gifts, for all the right people at the prices you expected. Guess what? Bags and boxes that's what! If you did get everything, you needed, you still have to get them to the car and unpack the car when you get home. Not to mention the gas money and the mall's food expense to keep your energy up.

Have no fear……there is a better way!

Online Shopping is it!!!!!!!!

Nearly everything you can find at a mall or a superstore can be purchased on line at a competitive price with easy delivery. Your only added expense is shipping and handling, and if you get all the items you need from one online store, the shipping and handling cost will be far less than the price of gas to the mall and something to eat while you were there.

Let's look at a comparison:

Shopping the old way………

Positives……

1.) Get all the items you need for your holiday shopping. That's it! The only thing you can be happy about is that the shopping is done.

Negatives……

1.) Time…The average impulse shopping experience last 1-2 hours per session. The average planned shopping experience for the holiday season is over 15 hours spread out over a week or two.

2.) Gas…..You spend at least a half a tank of gas shopping around for all that stuff. With gas prices the way they are now, that could be about 20 bucks for the old SUV or minivan.

3.) Physical Stress…Walking back and forth to the car is a workout. Walking around a mall or superstore is a workout. Bringing the bags in the house is a workout. If you wanted a workout, you would have headed to the gym. Right?

4.) Mental Stress…Having to go to different stores to complete your shopping list when you don't know if the items will be the right gift, for the right person, at the right price is stressful.

Now let's look at shopping on line………..

Positives……

1.) Time…Self explanatory this one is. It takes the average person 1 minute to get online. 1 more minute to go to their choice of online store. Another 10 or 15 minutes to check off some names as you select your items, about another 5 minutes to enter your payment information into the appropriate places and print out your receipt. Walla!!!!!! 30 minutes tops! Think of what you could do with all that time. (Definitely catch that movie huh?)

2.) Gas……What gas? You don't use any. You save it all for those trips to the movie theater. You don't even need a car. You just need an address to send your gift too. You could even send the item to the person your going to give the gift too no matter where they are in the world, and save yourself time wrapping it!!! (Ever get a gift in the mail? It's a great feeling.)

3.) Physical Stress…There is none!!!! No bags to carry, no walks through the malls, no lines to wait in, no fumbling with credit cards, receipts, money or bags while your in the store. All you have to do is lift a finger to click a mouse.

4.) Less Mental Stress…Think about all the planning that goes into doing all of your shopping the traditional way. All you have to do here is make a list, and check it off as you go.

Negatives……

1.) You must have a computer with an internet connection. Which you already have because you're reading this article. That is the only negative…

There are some things that every serious online shopper should know before they begin their online shopping experience. Here they are:

1.) To make the best use of your time, pick an online store that carries more than one type of item. It should be a mini-mall. They should have products that you would buy for yourself and something for everyone you want to shop for.

2.) The store should have a shopping cart. This feature will allow you to pick up different items while your shopping, and put them together in one place, for review (whether you buy the items or not) before your final purchase.

3.) The store should have some kind of FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page that can help you with anything that you might need to know about the store. If not a FAQ page, definitely some type of Customer Service Contact Information.

4.) The store should have a picture of the item with a good description next to it. That's right!!! An actual description of the item. When you go into a traditional store, the only time you'll get a description given to you is when it's a big ticket item like a car or expensive electronic item. To find the description yourself you have to check one of the 6 sides of the packaging. Online it's right there in front of you. How great is that?

5.) The store should have a way to put your name and email address into its data base so that they can contact you for customer specials the store might have. This can be a great way to get discounts from that store. You'll get all kinds of notifications about sales, special offers, and possibly some coupons to save you money on your next purchase.

6.) The store should have different ways to accept your payments. Credit cards, check cards, online checks, print out order forms that can be faxed or mailed to them to process orders. The more the better.

7.) The store should have a money back guarantee. This should let you know that if you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, the company will refund all your expenses with no questions asked.

8.) The store should also be listed with the Online BBB.

9.) The store MUST have a secure connection in which to receive your payment. If a company does not have this, I would not suggest using them. Usually you will see some sort of notice that talks about security as it pertains to ordering items online, and a picture of a padlock somewhere.

That's it!!!!!!!!!!! If you have those nine things you are ready to go. Try this method of shopping and decide for yourself. You be the judge. If you are serious about making your life easier when it comes to shopping for the holiday season, then you can't help but giving online shopping a chance. I think you will agree that you can't beat shopping online. Good Luck and Happy Shopping!!!!!

P.S. There are sites that I can recommend when it comes to getting all your online shopping needs met. Contact me for help in this area.

The Online Shopping Revolution

Author: Steve Hill

Source: articleage.com

As no doubt you have noticed online shopping is becoming more and more popular. In this article I write about this new revolution and discuss whether in my opinion this popularity is likely to continue or even increase, or if it is just some sort of short term fashion trend.

I was introduced to online shopping a few years ago when a friend of mine advised me that a certain electrical type company was offering their products with a discount of ten percent, when they were purchased online. This fascinated me and I then started to investigate if this was a trend which other retail outlets were offering. I found that quite a few others had similar online discounts and I soon started to catch the online shopping bug.

As a man I am not really one for shopping. I am not trying to suggest that all men hate shopping but I certainly do. When my wife wants to go on one of her trips to all of the local clothes and other shops, I do go with her and attempt to show an interest but in truth can not wait to get home. When buying items such as clothes for myself, I of course prefer to buy online. This is where online shopping become a dream for me.

A couple of years ago at Christmas time, I must admit that I purchased around eighty percent of my presents online. This saved me having to go to the shops in the first place, fighting through the Christmas shopping crowds and trying to find a car park space.

My family even now buy our weekly food shopping online. My wife prefers doing the food shopping in this way as she does not have to wait to have her items scanned and does not have to put up with the children asking if they can have this or that.

I believe that this online shopping revolution has only just started. I think that more and more companies are going to offer this service and that their websites will become even more impressive and easy to use for the consumer. People especially women will always love to go shopping but I think for certain goods, for example larger and more expensive items, that they will be mainly bought online.

In around five years time most households in the UK will have access to the internet therefore introducing even more potential customers to the option of online shopping.

My life has certainly been made a lot easier and less stressful through online shopping and I would advise other people to give it a go.

Don't Worry About Scrooge this Christmas, by Shopping Online You'll Save Plenty of Time and Money

According to a study by BizRate Research, 60% of women were already planning their online buying in September, compared to only 42% of men. Women are also reported to carry the burden of Christmas shopping with 55% taking on the responsibility, compared to only 45% of men. However, as more and more retailers go online, women can exploit the internet by saving themselves time, money, and effort.

There are many advantages to shopping online:

* You have more choice

* Prices tend to be lower
* It's scientifically proven to be less stressful!

Choice:

Even if you live in a big city, you'd have to be prepared to shop in multiple districts to get the same choice that you would have online. Most high street retailers now have a presence on the internet in any case and you may find that the website could offer more choice than your local store. In addition to big brand names, there are also lots of specialist sites on the internet - which only have an online presence. Such online specialists include CCL - a computer system and accessory specialist (http://www.cclonline.com/), Justtoys -with toys for kids and "big kids" (http://www.justtoys.com/) and ChristmasHamper.com (http://www.christmashamper.com/)or Highland Fayre which specialise in luxury food and drink hampers.

Lower prices:

Many websites offer minimal delivery charges and because they don't have the same costs as a bricks and mortar business, their prices to the consumer are often lower. Most transactions on the internet start with a search engine, but this is not the only method of research that you can do for your Christmas shopping. Perhaps you have heard of price comparison sites which exist for very specific markets such as personal finance like moneynet.co.uk (http://www.moneynet.co.uk/) or for more general shopping services (Kelkoo - http://www.kelkoo.com/, Ciao - http://www.ciao.co.uk/). These sites act as mini search engines and they will collect data from a range of services - showing the results of products with the lowest prices.

Internet shopping is healthier

Internetretailer.com reported in 2003 that when twin sisters were asked to conduct Christmas shopping - one online, one offline, the sister who did her shopping on the internet fared much better. (http://www.internetretailer.com/dailyNews.asp?id=10847)The sister who shopped on the high street took four hours to complete her shopping trip. At the start of the shopping expedition, this sister had a heart rate of 67 which rose to 138 whilst shopping and was still 79 when she got home - apparently "tired and cold, with sore feet".

On the other hand, her twin sister who had done her Christmas shopping online - took only 36 minutes to do her purchasing - and that was without broadband! Her initial heart rate was 66 and didn't rise above 67. Instead of dragging the kids around the shops, this twin was able to have them on her lap, and all the shopping was delivered direct to the home.

And if you want some assistance in the New Year to lose those few extra pounds, there's always online help for losing weight. The high profile website theleanteam.co.uk, as featured on Channel 4, provides useful health advice and if that still isn't enough to tempt you online for Christmas - take a look at Disco Dancing Santa.

Save Money On Food Shopping

Author: Stuart Laing

Source: download

1) Only buy what you need

Always take a list of items that you actually need, and stick to it!

Don't shop for food on an empty stomach. You'll be more tempted to buy items that you don't really need.

2) Discounts

Buy in bulk to take advantage of any discounts offered. Don't miss out on the special offers (e.g. 3 for 2) on items that you regularly purchase. If they're non-perishable goods consider buying enough for a few months, then restock the next time they're offered at a discount price.

If you generally use the same supermarket to buy food and refill your car, make sure that you get a store loyalty card. The bonus points may not seem much at the time (perhaps only 1 or 2%), but over the course of a year they will mount up. At the end of every year they may be enough to cover your entire shopping bill for a week.

Go shopping just before closing time. Many stores may have to discount perishable goods by more than 50% just to get rid of them rather than throw them away when the shop shuts. This opportunity is slowly disappearing these days as more and more supermarkets remain open 24 hours.

As always, shop around. Take advantage of the competition between supermarkets, price wars and special offers. Finally, consider getting a trade card for a cash and carry store.

3) Shop online

Consider using supermarkets that offer online shopping. You make your selections on their website, pay by credit card and choose when you want it to be delivered to your door. A small delivery charge is usually added, but there are other benefits;

Number one: The price of online groceries is generally very competitive, especially if you take advantage of the online discount vouchers that you receive.

Number two: The delivery charge may cost extra, but if you need to buy a full weekly shopping, how long would it take you to go to the shop, look for what you need, take it to the checkout, pay for it and bring it home? How much fuel would you use? How much wear and tear would it cause to your car? How much stress would it add to your life? And if you still grudge the delivery cost, why not arrange to work an hour longer during the time that you'd otherwise have to spend hauling yourself around the supermarket?

4) Watch the till

When the assistant is scanning your goods, keep a close watch on the prices that show up on the till. Items that are held over the scanner for too long can register twice. Also, buy-one-get-one-free offers don't always register the second item as being free. Over the course of a year, these little mistakes can easily add up.

Part-time or temporary staff are the most likely to make mistakes, especially when the store is busy. For this reason it's best to avoid the weekends for shopping. Don't let the need to pack your bags distract you from watching the till register. Finally, check the till receipt before you leave the store, just in case!

Stress Free Food Shopping This Christmas

Author: Rose Harris

Source: ezinearticles.com

At Christmas, shopping can be a real hassle and has been a dread for many people during the festive period. The high street becomes overcrowded and it can get extremely frustrating trying to fight your way through the masses of people racing around trying to get their Christmas gifts. Food shopping can be equally or even more exasperating as it can be really hard to get all the supplies you need unless you shop well in advance. There is also the nightmare of queuing to pay for the goods and if you have ever been to a major supermarket near Christmas time then you probably remember waiting for up to an hour or more to pay for your food.

People are wising up to the fact that this chaos at Christmas is not really productive and there are better ways to get the job done with far less hassle. Online food shopping has steadily grown in popularity over recent years and most of the major supermarket chains have websites where you can choose and order your weekly shopping online and have it delivered direct to your door for a small fee. It is also a great way to keep an idea on how much you are spending as the bill updates as you add more to your shopping cart. The only downside is that you don't get to see and touch the food you are buying, but the majority of the time your delivery will be of the highest quality and any discrepancies will be swiftly corrected.

Another way to reduce the time and effort on buying your Christmas shopping is to consider buying a hamper. Christmas hampers are a great way of buying in the essentials for your family, providing you with all the food you will need to see you over the festive period. Some hampers also have alcoholic beverages within the selection which can save you having to shop for your Christmas drinks too. Whether you are buying food or gifts online this year, the Internet is the way forward in helping make your Christmas a truly merry one.
